A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document which allows you to give someone you trust the power to make decisions on your behalf about things such as your property and financial affairs or health and welfare.
There are two separate types of Lasting Power of Attorney. One deals with Property and Financial Affairs and the other deals with Health and Welfare issues. You can choose to have either or both types depending on your needs.
Anyone aged 18 or over, with the capacity to do so, can make a Lasting Power of Attorney appointing one or more Attorneys to make decisions on their behalf.
You can only make a Lasting Power of Attorney when you understand what it is you are doing. If you leave it too late you run the very real risk of not being able to appoint someone to assist you just when you need help the most.
Here at John M Lewis we can help you with all aspects of Lasting Powers of Attorney and their registration. Home visits can be arranged if required.
